Iceland the first day

Monday morning, our journey starts in Wettringen in the North-West of Germany. For the first time this year, it was really springlike. The shuttle takes us to Amsterdam where we start at lunch time. There are no problems during the flight and the airplane lands at 4 p.m..

Our airplane to Iceland
The first impression we get from Iceland isn't that great, rather sobering. A strong wind in combination with snow and hailstones meets us, the temperature is about 0°C. It seems that there aren't any trees, but lots and lots of stones - big ones, small ones, grey ones, covered or not by lichen - all that stuff.
During the transfer from the airport Keflavik to Reykjavik, our guide Harry tells us the first stories about Iceland, speaking German with a pretty funny accent.

Quotation:
"On the left side, you can see a Catholic convent. Because of the fact that there are only about 2.000 Catholics in Reykjavik, nuns are imported from Poland and France. And when they are old and destroyed, other nuns are imported."

That's how it works.
After checking in the hotel, we start for a first trip through Reykjavik, we eat something and look for an internet-provider which we find without any problems.

Looking for a provider in Reykjavik
No problem at all, from tomorrow I've an e-mail-account.

That's all for today.
